Pedagogical documentation is not only recording the children’s learning, it is to learn about how children think and (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2014). This form of documentation will allow educators to learn about the children and makes learning visible to others (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2009). Documentation is meant for educators to be co-learners with not only the child but also their families (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2014). In documenting the children’s learning it will benefit the educators, the children and their families. It will increase the value on experiences and perspectives of the children (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2010-11). It will allow children to internalize their learning and past experiences become visible to other children. Ongoing documentation and allow for everyone to learn together. Pedagogical documentations extend learning and allows for reflection (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2014).
Pedagogical documentation will allow learning to be visible. Through the documentation of math learning, it will act as a way to encourage children to reflect on their past experiences and connect with the new concepts they learn (Mclennan, 2010). It will open to possibilities in shared reflection on the learning process. It is a great way for assessment because it is authentic and demonstrates natural representations of the children's learning. Instead of summative assessments, pedagogical documentation will reflect on ongoing assessments. It will benefit in understanding the areas children need more support in (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2012). It will create shared understanding. It celebrates the rights of individual learners and recognizes the ownership of their learning. It actualized share accountability and provides a voice for everyone (Ontario Ministry of Education, 2012).

It includes creating a panel board to showcase the children's work, through technology (including video tapes of the children learning, audio recordings and other methods to represent their learning).
